Can you name some everyday things that need air to work?
Answer:
Baseballs, balloons, tires, airplanes, music, and many, many more things.
Question:
Why is jumping on the sidewalk different from jumping on the Parrot Bounce?
Answer:
The sidewalk and the Parrot Bounce are made with different materials. The material in the Parrot Bounce is filled with air. When you bounce on it, the material slows you down gradually and pushes you back up so that you may bounce once or several times. The sidewalk, because it is hard, doesn’t move so you stop suddenly – no bouncing at all!
Question:
In what way is the Parrot Bounce similar to getting into a bathtub full of water?
Answer:
In the Parrot Bounce, you move air out of the area you are jumping on. In the bathtub, you move water out of your area when you step into the tub.
Question:
Why do different objects make different sounds when they are hit?
Answer:
Objects vibrate at different frequencies and move the air to make sounds: a fast vibration makes a high sound and a slow vibration makes a low sound.
